The perfect way to end the competition
Then she needs to put some combos/sequences in second half. She gave it away on tech.Oh jeez!!!! I'm thoroughly annoyed that is behind either Kim or Watanabe.
She skated well here. If she can add some tech she could be a factor. Turn one 3-2 to a 3-2-2 and get a 3-3 in somewhere.Ziegler probably going to be just short of a medal here, but I think she'll be first alternate for Worlds for sure. And let the Monday morning quarterbacking begin because this performance surely would have won US Nationals.... Still not sure of the viability of the strategy of relying on a +2A+2A sequence long term.
Agree. The panel likes her, but she needs to find 5+ points somewhere. She skated well here. If she can add some tech she could be a factor. Turn one 3-2 to a 3-2-2 and get a 3-3 in somewhere.
She actually did a triple, double, double. The only way she could up the technical score would be to move a combo to the 2nd half. She skated well here. If she can add some tech she could be a factor. Turn one 3-2 to a 3-2-2 and get a 3-3 in somewhere.
Honestly? I don't mind the rest breaks. I appreciate the moments where the program and skating can just breathe. Plus, her spins were so fast and with wonderful positions. She'd bring down the house if allowed to earn good points with a fast, centered scratch spin to close out the program. Then she needs to put some combos/sequences in second half. She gave it away on tech.
Also should work on basics as she deservedly lost out on skating skills. Her program had the most noticeable slow rest breaks of the three skaters.

I think the lack of audience here hurt Ziegler's skate - the audience at NHK responded to her skating, and her performance responded in turn. Then she needs to put some combos/sequences in second half. She gave it away on tech.
Also should work on basics as she deservedly lost out on skating skills. Her program had the most noticeable slow rest breaks of the three skaters.
Lindsay frustrates the heck out of me. She did well enough once she settled into her fully grown body, but she’s regressing. I guess my fandom would be better off if I didn’t get attached to anyone’s skating.Woke up in time to see the last five. It’s infuriating to lose a medal by a point but she does need to clean up her lutz and flip entries. Pleased to see Elyse did decently but looks like Lindsay had a rough skate.
I hope that Team Ziegler finds grand symphonic (not nec’ly classical but in symphonic style) for next season. She’s outgrown her jazzy Beth Hart phase.I need a nitty gritty or top drawer for a bingo with one more skater.
Also I must have blacked out Ziegler's music because of that stupid baby voiceover crap.
I’m watching this tape delayed, but you could absolutely tell. She did the long left forward outside three turn and then put her right foot down and glided backward on two feet and brought her arms into a rotating position. It looked exactly like when someone’s doing a choreography run through and is skating through the jumps.Well, she's injured.
How visible was it though? If you didn't know she was going to jump there, could you tell?
Worse than Nats - you could see how this injury has taken its toll on her physically.I watched both spoiled and unspoiled, so to speak. I turned on women's when I woke up and was just in time to see the last shot of the podium. But I didn't read anything before I watched, so I had no idea what had happened to Ava. I'm glad it was just small things, not a meltdown, and she still came in fourth. And I'm happy Rinka and Mone did so well.
But Lindsay ... what on earth happened there? I almost wished I'd been spoiled for that one, it was so devastating to watch.
This panel was not nice at all. Not a single woman had a clean skate according to them - either an unclear edge or a rotation issue.Harsh call to give Ziegler an "e" on the second lutz. That made the difference in the medals. I don't recall her ever receiving an "e" before. I put Ziegler in the Levito camp of both lutz and flip taking off from unclear edges. The angle isn't the best, but I really disagree with this call especially when compared to some others.
I thought she was going to end up fourth anyway and am OK with the result, just don't like it was due to this questionable call.
