Miyake looks very... ruffly.

ETA: a clean and nice program... the ruffles worked!
I feel like "the ruffles worked" needs to be my fashion concept for 2021.

I'm excited to watch this live but I won't be able to do so until group four or so.

Sena MIYAKE, age 18, was great! 3A, 3Lz smooth/nice flow out, 3F+3T - 79.09 in 1st!

Taichi HONDA, 22 (older brother of Marin) - landed 3A (yay), 3T+3T & 3F - (eta) 67.86, into 3rd behind Ryuju Hino's 69.79.
Think Taichi was so emotional because this may be his final Nationals?

ETA that Jackie Wong tweeted that Hino's jumps were 3F(step), 3A, 3Lz3T: https://twitter.com/rockerskating/status/1342315542150045696

Honda doing his Elvis Stojko "this is how a man skates" impression... without the impressive jump content, but landed.

(Sorry... I'm alone on Xmas Eve and drinking Johnnie Walker Green, lol!)

Had to step away there for awhile... saw some guy in red doing his Carmen Miranda impression... then the link froze... I think I'm back now, thanks @Sylvia !

Kushida showing he's a Vincent Zhou SP music and costume wannabe... sans quads and good spins. Bedhead hair not working, unmemorable but decent skate.

Moriguchi: Okay, "Hallelujah" seriously makes me want to gag, unless Mariah Bell is skating to it. But he has a nice costume and he's trying to emote. Spins generically okay. I'm sure he's a very nice boy.

Karakawa: kind of a Boyang SP Piazzolla tango wannabe program (with deep v-neck) from whenever year that was... but not as interesting. Double Axel. But he has some nice spin positions. There was one attempt at a sexy shoulder roll.

My scotch is starting to kick in.

Sugiyama: aww, he's adorable. Has a very nice quality across the ice. Skating to the kind of monochromatic music I despise for FS programs, but he moves very nice, and did an impressive "double Biellmann" spin. Double Axel. Possible potential for the future.

ETA: aww, he's wearing glasses in the K&C.

Jeremy Abbott choreographed Sugiyama's SP.
He has beautiful spin positions - I heard that he carefully studies Jason's spins.

"You will know me when you see me. I am short and Japanese and will be wearing black."

ETA: I swear these Japanese Men's SP's are shorter than those of their Russian counterparts. They fly by so fast!

Miura: looks like a practice outfit. All black... oh baby, just no. Oh geez, Feelin' Good. But moves well, even though he splatted twice. Kind of bombing, ouch. Despite that, I get the feeling he could be a compelling skater, with the right packaging. This should go into last, let's see... coach ignoring him in the K&C, harsh... 5th? That's a gift.

Kao MIURA (youngest in this field at 15? Jr. silver medalist who was 6th at NHK Trophy) started off with an impressive 4T+2T but then had a sliding fall on 4S attempt & lost balance after landing his 3A from spread eagle and ended up crashing to the ice. :(
Into 5th - 67.61

Kishina: emotive music. Well, you got your combo. And your costume, while generic, shows off your very nice thighs. Better luck next time.
