A bit late, but no one else has posted. This is the first time they have run a separate novice national championship (for a few years, there was a novice/pre-novice event, until they went back to including novices at the main competition). It's in conjunction with a synchro competition, which follows, and is being held in the same venue as WJC next week. Yesterday was the SPs, today all the FPs. Streaming is at skatecanada.ca or the SC dailymotion page, which also has the archived videos.

They are currently in the first group of women. Ted Barton and Kaetlyn Osmond are doing commentary. Dance is already complete; pairs and men to come.
The outstanding skate in the SPs seems to have been David Howes of MB - 55.11, clean with 3z/2t, 3f, 2a, all level 4s and +GOE. Same content as at Challenge 3 weeks ago (which he won), but 10 points higher as a much better skate.
