The french federation is organising the French Elite Championships for all its ice disciplines (from curling to synchro) over one week.
Many are not satisfied by this unusual schedule, too close to the GP Final and during audience-unfriendly weekdays.

Anyway, here is the schedule (UTC +1)
And the results page

Saturday 9
5:45 pm : Jr Synchro SP
6:15 pm Sr Synchro SP

Sunday 10 (also the day for the Ballet on Ice competition, wondering how the Sr couples from Villard will manage to do 3 programs in a day)
1:30 PM Jr Synchro FS
2:00 PM Sr Synchro FS
2:30 PM Ice Dance SD

Monday 11
2:30 PM Ice Dance FD

Tuesday 12
2:45 PM Women SP
4:15 PM Pairs SP

Wednesday 13
1:25 PM Women FS
3:45 PM Pairs FS
6:00 PM Men SP

Thursday
12:00 PM Men FS

A gala will be organised there during the following week-end.

Part of the competition will be broadcasted on the FFSG's youtube channel (currently extreme ice skating)
Part on the Sport En France website.

I didn't even know it had started! But I guess that makes sense, as D/L had to ditch Golden Spin and fly back due to tight schedules. Looks like they moved ahead in the FD, but good for D/N beating them in one segment at least! :cheer2:

Men will be interesting. Apart from the top two I was very impressed by Samy Hammi, Xan Rols and Landry le May this season. Especially by Samy.

No Mae-Berenice Meite? She was at G-P France a month ago. She hasn’t retired, that I know.

What happened to Matte/Pierre? They didn't just W/D or anything, they were completely erased from the results page.

Since I'm a jinx, Faula/Belle had a rough skate in the LP. She fell on both throws and she completely smacked into the boards on the second one. They ended up with the exact same overall score as Matte/Pierre, 139.66 M/P won the tiebreak so they would have had the bronze if they didn't disappear from score page.

Kevin only got a point more in the FS than in the SP?! I saw a video but it looked like it was a practice or something, where he was choosing to leave bits out. I hope he isn’t injured, it was certainly painful to watch :(

He literally gave up after he missed his 1st quad. He even fell on a spin. It was an epic mess. And he is not injured AFAIK. It was just Kevin being a headcase. Again.

God, yes, that was really painful to watch. I'm trying to remember when I've ever seen a worse meltdown from such a top skater, one week after being in the Grand Prix Final no less (though maybe his performance there was a warning of worse things to come :( ).

It's weird because usually Kevin manages to bounce back after one bad performance, and he did very well in his SP yesterday. He's got 3 weeks to figure it out before Euros - France has 3 men there so I'd be surprised if he isn't named to the team.

The Aymoz disaster seems unique in that it had ALL of:
  • Multiple pops, with hardly anything even attempted (just 3T and 3Lo, plus the 3A<<) +
  • Multiple falls, including on a relatively easy element and a spin +
  • Program stopped +
  • No obvious explanation (nerves, equipment failure, illness)

I think it was legitimately worse than Laetitia Hubert's 1992 Olympic free skate, which is still probably the worst overall skate I've seen.

There was also a Canadian skater named Tara Ferguson who fell six times in her free skate at a Grand Prix one year (I think in France), but at least she rotated everything. All six of her falls were on jumps IIRC.

On a more positive note, great to see Adam Siao Him Fa attempt a 4F in both programs, in addition to all of his other quads. He and Malinin will continue to push each other.
