I read an article that a lot of skaters are petitioning to allow the backflip. A lot of them are practicing them so they must think they can get some traction.

This is like the worlds when Medvedeva did a 3 triple sequence just because she was so far ahead.

So, the backflip is an illegal element and will get a deduction.

But, it shouldn't affect the GOE of the choreo sequence, as the rules don't state the judges need to deduct for it, just -2.0 from the Tech Panel.
